build facebook page engagement

If you have a social media presence (which you should) for your business, you are usually looking for ways to reach and engage your followers. In this post I’ll share a simple way to build Facebook page engagement.

Ask Questions

See, simple. By asking your fans some questions you can build engagement on your Facebook page. Its probably the easiest and best method to get people to respond to your posts.

What Type of Questions to Ask

Yes/No
Ask your fans a question related to your business or a trending topic: Do you think ____________ will become more popular? Yes or no?

Either/Or
Similar to Yes/No. An example would be: Would you rather ____________ or ______________?

Survey
Ask for their opinion. It’s a great way to get honest feedback about your services and/or product you offer. It also lets your fans know that you care about what they think.

bb-camp2014Photo Question
I posed this type of question this for a postcard design I did for ButterBeans. My daughter participated in their summer camp program and happened to appear in the photo of the happy campers that was used in one of the postcard designs. When I posted the postcard I asked if anyone could spot my daughter in the photo. I got a response right away. This led to more comments that provided a fun back and forth between me and my fans. It was more than showing off my work. It helped engage my audience in a new way.

And if you want to know where she is or you have already found her, let me know in the comments!

Ask fun questions
Of course you have a Facebook page to promote your business, but in real life you don’t approach people in the street and ask them to like you. Break up the promotional posts with something fun and let’s you connect more personally with your audience. An example might be: If you could only have one meal for a year, what would it be?

Ask fill in the blank questions
An example would be: If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would go to _____________.

Build Facebook Page Engagement By Asking Questions

Keep in mind great questions are short and easy to answer. You’re likely to get more comments the easier the questions are. Trying out these different types of questions will help build Facebook page engagement. Always respond to any comments! Here are some more tips to help you write successful posts.
